System Location Instructions


Please note that Location of receiver in this section is to help protect the coordination holder from interference by a transmitter inadvertently placed near the system receiver.

Ground Elevation Above Sea Level and Coordinates must be included and are derived from a USGS 7 1/2 - minute quadrangle map.

Optional: using Google Earth for location and elevation:

Google Earth is an acceptable and accurate method of obtaining the latitude, longitude and elevation above sea level for a repeater antenna location.

  • Bring up Google Earth and type in the address of the repeater location in the upper left corner.
  • This will get you close to the antenna of the proposed repeater.
  • On the screen visually the locate where the antenna is or will be located and put your curser on it.
  • At the bottom right of the screen you should see the latitude, longitude and elevation above sea level.
  • If the latitude and longitude is not in degrees, minutes and seconds. then select Tools, Options, 3D view, then check the Degrees, Minutes, seconds circle in the Show Lat/Log section.
  • Note: The electric meter that supplies the repeater will be assigned an address. In some cases the address is a considerable distance from the antenna.
