President’s Update:

This December's quarterly meeting will take place on line. Instructions on how to join in the meeting are included in this newsletter. Elections will be held for Vice President, Treasurer and a Board member. There is time to put your name on the ballot for a position. Candidates will be accepted up until the vote at the meeting. You can also submit your name as a candidate for a position on line by sending your information to mail@miarc.com . A big thanks to David, KE8OHG, our new web page manager. He has already made some updates to the information in the bylaws from recently adopted resolutions. MARC is still looking for volunteers to take on jobs for MARC. If you are interested in volunteering, send a note to mail@miarc.com and we will try and match you up with a job that you would like to do. Having more volunteers means no one is loaded up with too much work.

I am also happy to report that the coordination back up has cleared up. All applications are in the process of coordination. I do have a waiting list for 2 meter applications that could not be granted because of a lack of available repeater pairs. This list is my own and good for 1 year. You must renew it each year or it drops off my list. You can always check on your application by sending a message to your coordinator at mail@miarc.com.

   3. Enter your name and email address
   4. Click the phone icon, you will have a choice to
        select using a telephone or your computer for
        audio if you have speakers and mic.
   5. If you select computer you should connect.
   6. If selecting telephone you will be presented with a number
        to dial and an access code.
   7. When prompted enter the access code followed by the # symbol.
   8. Once the audio connects you will need to press # once again
        and enter the synch code followed by the # symbol.
   9. You should now be connected.
       

Participation in the webmeeting is only needed for things like slideshow presentations, or use of a whiteboard where someone may need to do an illistration. It also allows us the opportunity to display the actual text of a motion for everyone to read. If you are unable to participate in the webmeeting you may still join in on the phone bridge from wherever you are.

2021 Elections

Due to needing to cancel the June meeting,we were unable to hold elections in the September meetings. New officers begin their terms in January, so we still have time to get it finished without calling an emergency meeting.

Please join us online for the December meeting where elections will happen. If you have a nomination for office please fill out the printable ballot and mail it to the address printed on the ballot.

Meeting called to order by Phil at 1:05 PM

The June 2021 meeting was canceled.

Minutes of the last meeting held on March 6, 2021 were read by Ann. Motion to approve minutes from the March meeting made by Dan, seconded by Jim, vote taken, motion approved.

Treasurer’s report provided by Phil for February, March and April 2021. Motion to approve the report was made by Ann, seconded by Dan, vote taken, Motion passed.

Old Business:

Follow up on a question on resolution 3 concerning the 900 MHZ band plan. Dan checked and the resolution had not been inserted into the bylaws as is. Changes were made and the band plan correction was voted into the bylaws directly, instead of the resolution itself.

Follow up on resolution #20 under the DOG from March 3, 2018 for inclusion into the bylaws. Motion made by Bob. Seconded by Jim. Motion passed and resolution #20 will be included in the bylaws. Jack, NY8D, had suggested that the September meeting be scheduled later in the month to coincide with the Lansing Swap and shop. The Board will consider this change over the winter. This issue was tabled after discussion.

New Business:

Elections: Nominations opened for the offices of VP, Treasurer and one Director. Dan accepts the nomination for VP, Phil accepts the nomination for Treasurer, and Jim stated he would be willing to renew his post as director. There were no other applicants. The election will be held in December. Nominations remain open until the vote in December.

Dan reported on the uncoordinated N8UDY repeater,which is possibly in the Ann Arbor area. The N8UDY repeater has been reported as conflicting with other coordinated repeaters on 145.15. Jim and Dan will follow up on the reports.

Phil brought up the possibility of a bylaw change regarding membership dues. Phil stated that the elected and appointed members of MARC should be considered full members and exempt from paying dues. The amount of time spent working for MARC by the elected and appointed volunteers is considerable, and should be rewarded by not requiring these members to pay dues, while holding these positions.

Motion made by Bob, supported by Dan:

Change the bylaws to read: Article II part E. Dues shall be $10.00 per calendar year, or any part thereof, for full members and $5.00 per calendar year, or any part thereof, for Supporting Members. Dues are due and payable by 1 January of each year for that year, and shall be considered delinquent if not paid by that date. Elected and appointed board members shall automatically be considered full members and exempt from the dues requirement as a thank you for their service. The exemption will remain in effect as long as the elected or appointed person remains in the elected or appointed position.
