President’s Column:

September 6th is the annual MARC meeting where elections take place. Directions to the meeting are included in this newsletter. Anyone that is interested in running for the MARC Board is welcome to join the meeting in Lansing and put your hat in the ring. The offices of president, secretary and one board member will be voted on. If you are interested in running but cannot make the meeting, please send an email to board@miarc.com with your notice that you would like to run for an office and specify the office that you would be interested in.

At this time, MARC is up to date on coordination activity. If you believe that you have an application on file that is not being processed, please send me an email at w8ic@miarc.com and I will check on it for you.

Please visit the MARC web site and check the activity reports to see what new and renewal applications have been processed.

Annual Business Meeting Information:

Meeting Location: Saturday Sept 6 2014 1:00 pm EDT Delta Township Fire Station 811 N. Canal Rd. Lansing, MI

Directions: Take I-96 to M-43 exit 93, go East to the first traffic light at Canal Rd. Turn left (North) on Canal Rd, go 150' to Administration Dr turn left (West), the new fire station will be on your right. Take the first driveway on the right to the West parking lot. Enter the building at the South entrance on Administration Dr.

Annual Business Meeting

This month brings the annual business meeting where we hold a physical meeting in the Lansing area. This includes the elections for board positions that will expire. This year, the President, Secretary and one Director position will be up for election.

If you are interested in running for any of these positions, please contact any one of the board members in person or by sending email to them using their [callsign]@miarc.com. Please note that candidates must also be current MARC members.

The absentee ballot is available for you to print and mail in. We can not accept votes via email at this time. Your ballot must appear in the MARC postal mailbox no later then Friday September 7th to be included. Please also note that in order to vote, you must be a paid member.

Membership dues may be mailed to the postal address listed on the main page of the website, or by clicking on the link to "Pay Your Dues" on the same web page.

Old Business:

Dan tried to change his repeater listing with the ARRL without success. He will try again in the future.

New Business:

Jim, K8JK, completed an audit and did not find any anomalies. Phil will check with Fred by email for his report on the audit.

MARC Has a new mailing address!

We have a number of TDS forms that are overdue, 29% of the repeaters in our database have not been updated in two or more year’s. So take a minute and check your entry in the MARC Repeater Directory to see if it is time to update your records.

We are attempting to respond to every TDS form we receive by return email so you know that your form has been received and you have a copy of what was submitted. If you submitted a TDS and did not receive an email response please contact us at mail@miarc.com.

Editors Message

Please note that there will be updated information in the next newsletter for connecting to the electronic meeting bridge. Please disregard any previous information as you will not be connected to the meeting in progress.

One of the ongoing issues that we have is lack of repeater pairs that are still available. MARC board has made a number of changes to help resolve this issue. Along with creating changes to the current frequency utilization plan we have also removed some pairs that were tied up improperly. This is not an easy task and has required extra effort and time by board members to make verifications and attempt contact with any party involved. The end result of this effort has been the ability to get more active repeaters on the air
