President’s Update:

This September 10, 2022 quarterly MARC meeting will take place on line. This was decieded at the last meeting in June when gasoline prices jumped way up and Covid started to become an increasing problem. It is pretty rare that we have visitors at the in- person meeting over the past few years. The on line meeting is a good subsitute for the traavel to Lansing. Instructions on how to join in the on line meeting are included in this newsletter.

The September meeting will include elections for officers. The offices of President, Secretary and one Director will be included in the election. I will not be running for President this year as I have held the position for 11 years. I hope to have more time available to train new volunteers. I will be turning over the job of Treasurer to David, KE8OHG. I have been working with David and he is ready to take on the job. I will help him by answering any questions he may have on the procedures while he settles into the position.

I have been very busy and not able to work with other possible volunteers to join the MARC Board and spread out the work load. Hopefully, I will get caught up and help some others who want to volunteer their time to help with Michigan repeater coordination efforts.

Using your web browser

   1. Activate your Web Browser
   2. Go To https://join.freeconferencecall.com/marc-meeting
   3. Enter your name and email address
   4. Click the phone icon, you will have a choice to
        select using a telephone or your computer for
        audio if you have speakers and mic.
   5. If you select computer you should connect.
   6. If selecting telephone you will be presented with a number
        to dial and an access code.
   7. When prompted enter the access code followed by the # symbol.
   8. Once the audio connects you will need to press # once again
        and enter the synch code followed by the # symbol.
   9. You should now be connected.
       

Participation in the web-meeting is only needed for things like slideshow presentations, or use of a whiteboard where someone may need to do an illustration. It also allows us the opportunity to display the actual text of a motion for everyone to read. If you are unable to participate in the web-meeting you may still join in on the phone bridge from wherever you are.

Meeting called to order by Phil at 1:02 PM

Minutes: Dan made a motion to accept the minutes of the March 12, 2022 meeting as printed in the newsletter, seconded by Jeff, vote taken. Motion carried

Treasurer’s report provided by Phil. Motion to approve the report as printed in the newsletter was made by Dan, seconded by Jeff, vote taken, motion carried.

New Business:

Discussion on the Covid19 situation and the price of gasoline.

Jeff made a motion that the next meeting, September 10, 2022, be held online per Resolution #23. Motion seconded by Keith. Discussion, vote taken, motion carried.

Elections: Phil appointed Jeff and Keith to the election committee. The offices of President, Secretary and one board member are to be voted on in September. Nominations opened: Phil nominated Jeff for Director. No other nominations for Director at this time. Jeff nominated Phil for president. Phil respectfully declined. No other nominations for President at this time. Dan nominated Ann for secretary. Ann accepted. No other nominations for Secretary at this time.

Discussion on the Michigan ARES web page and possible links that MARC may offer to their web page. This could be a link to the MARC Repeater Directory or the home page of MARC. Also some conversation on MARC coordination statistics. Keith will look into this. Dan also has some thoughts on providing a repeater directory link to ARES. The issue will be brought up at the next meeting.
